Fallout 4 Saves Gone
Hello all, I have recently encountered a problem with Fallout 4, and it is a whopper! I will try to be as specific and to the point as I can in order to rectify the situation quickly, helping others should they encounter this issue as well. So, I received Fallout 4 for Xbox One around December time and have been enjoying it immensely.
In order to get right into the action, I set my Xbox One to Offline mode, bypassing any mandatory updates to the game. After sinking in a fair amount of time into the game, I decided to connect my Xbox One to the internet to download the latest updates. After successfully installing around 500MB of patches to the game, it booted up to the main menu.It was at the main menu where I discovered that I could no longer continue with any saved games. The 'Continue' option on the main menu was non-existent, the 'Load' option was grayed out and not a clickable option, leaving me the only option of 'New Game'.So.Where and what happened to my saved games and progression? I was just over 24 hours of gameplay in total, all seemingly disappeared!I have checked my Xbox One system, and I do indeed have a game save in Fallout 4 (albeit 0.4kb total size which is.curiously tiny in size).I have searched the web, tried out a hard system reset, I have signed out of my profile, signed back in, I have uninstalled the game, and reinstalled it, disconnected from the internet to try and load locally and re-synced to the cloud, all to no avail! So.what the hell is going on?
Has anyone else had issues with this? Or even experienced what I have? If so, I am all ears (whether or not you have solved the situation).Additional information: None of my game saves were corrupted, i had experienced a grand total of zero glitches and anomalies with the game in its version:1.00 state, and I take good care of my save games too, meaning I have (or had), several game saves all slightly different times apart.Summary: Game worked perfectly + Connected online to download first updates= Game saves Vanished.Posts: 3405 Joined: Wed Jan 17, 2007 11:26 am. Hi Unable2Connect,I understand your skepticism about me changing something somewhere and not admitting it, after all this is now a process of elimination, but I assure you I have changed nothing! What I tried to do, was the sensible thing by taking care of my Fallout 4 by updating it.
I knew I was going to update it sooner or later, as I am a huge fan of Bethesda, and know just how glitchy some of their games can be sometimes. The order in which I handled this Updating fiasco was as follows:1. Played some Fallout 4 with no patches installed yet. (I think I had just completed the 'Old Guns' quest for the minutemen).2. Saved my game as i have done a hundred times before (waited for the autosave to complete before doing so).3. Exited to the Fallout 4 main menu.4. Closed the game down from the xbox one dashboard.5. Switched xbox one off.6.
The next day, Switched xbox one on, connected to internet, booted up Fallout 4 which then asked to download an update.7. After downloading the update, I booted up Fallout 4, and could no longer continue with my saved game because according to the game and xbox one cloud servers.there is no saved game and never has been! There is no saved game.anywhere!?If this happened to somebody who regularly hacks their xbox one, or who takes advantage of some of the glitches in this game, I could understand a bit better when things go pear-shaped, but I have not done anything like that. Just someone playing the game as intended.I really hope Bethesda see this post, as I have seemed to have stumble upon a glitch that deletes your saved game data, and to access this glitch, all you need to do is update your game!!!Posts: 3360 Joined: Mon Jan 22, 2007 8:12 amDisplay posts from previous: Sort.
Playing Fallout 4, all my initial game files appear to be gone. Long story short, I started a couple of other games using guest accounts not knowing these accounts were temporary and the game letting me save away without warning. I am using the instant onfeature but even rebooted and could get back to the first set of saves on the the first guest account. I started another game today with a second account and was well into and happy when I had to stop for a while so I turned the console off, not rebooting.Upon power up, the second guest account was gone as were the games saves. In trying to get it back, before knowing,I logged out of the first guest account and now have lost 120 hours of game play on that. To make matters worse, with all guest accounts logged out and just the xbox live account logged in, all my saves from the initial game played as the xbox one live accountare gone. I only have the last save from (2) because of an apparent bug that let it write anyway.Needless to say I am upset.
Apparently there's no way to manage saves outside the game itself so I can't even confirm what really is there, if it's just this one save or not. As a note, on the 360, one could create as many local accounts as one wanted andplay under those.
One would expect this be available on the xbox one or at least strong notification it's gone and that guest accounts are practically worthless and you'll lose everything. Saying that notice its buried in the documentation is not acceptableespecially when early discovery is delayed many days or weeks by the 'instant on' never reboot feature. That helps to hide it.Is there any way to get any of the data back or am I just out of luck? Is there a practical reason for this restriction on creating accounts that can be saved to not tied to a real human or are you simply trying to quantify my level of enjoyments and chargeme more because I am enjoying it to much? If so, I am certainly not enjoying it now so does that mean I can get all of my money back?

This makes me angry enough to wonder why I ever though about buying Microsoft to begin with. It just happened to me tonight with everyone of my games. Had gotten pretty far in AC Syndicate and COD ghost III. After trying everything, including a factory reset which worked for other's in the past, still not synching the cloud storage of my games savedata. I am really. right now, but I am hoping that it is just do to the cloud service Azure being temporarily down fixing issues, which ours is more than likely one of them.
Once they get back online your box should sync back up. On the cloud servicesite, Azure, it shows that they are having downtime right now all over the world, however on xboxlive site out shows green and normal.
